The piece was inspired by my new love of
slow, emotional opera arias. "Ombra mai fu", written by
Handel, is one of the most beautiful melodies of all times.
But as with many operas, the lyrics are a bit silly. ( The aria is about
the shade of a tree.)
The painting of the 2 women under the tree
has been included it it the free
vintage gallery for you to download.
The leaf border was stamped in black ink
over a dark green background. It was just too dark, so I highlighted
each leaf with titan buff. What a happy mistake. I like the
effect.

The transfer is from Tuscan
Rose CD #2. She was named "photo lady kneeling at bench
with book". I tinted her dress and veil with matte
medium and a touch for the same burgundy I used for the border. The
spiral design was stamped with titan buff paint.

The piece was inspired by a Cecilia Bartoli

Cogli la rosa", an aria Handel wrote and later in used in the opera
Rinaldo (lascia ch'io pianga). The lyrics are on the left hand side.
The photos is of a stage singer from the
last century. I have included it it the free

43002 E Standing pigeon
- 43006 H set of wings
- 52004 H Gloves
The piece was inspired by a 1906 from
Life magazine I found on a library website. I have included it in the free
vintage gallery for you to download.
Burnt sienna and Quinacridone red were
combined to make to deep warm red color. The wings were stamped on a piece
of tan marbled paper. The paper mimicked sun behind the woman in the
Life cover. I tinted the flower in her hair with the same mixed red
paint to emphasis it.
