Color Mixing Exercises
Exercises 1 - 4
Notes before you begin: I offer a few suggestions after
completing the first 4 exercises.
On your palette( I used palette paper at the
Reno show and a white corelle plate at home) squeeze about 6 drops of the first color
at the 9 o'clock position, 6 drops of the second color at the 3 o'clock position
and 3 drops of each color at the 12 o'clock position.
Paint the first pure color on the left most
side of the worksheet with one brush. The paint the second pure color on the right with a
second brush. Then paint a square somewhere in the middle (ok with 10 rows
there is no middle) after thoroughly mixing the 2 colors. Then work from
between the pure color and the mix to get the in between colors. I used
matte medium to get the tint squares.
I painted tissue paper with the leftover
paint. I can use this paper in a collage later. The
Color Index Name (CI number listed after the color) are as close as I could get
with the Golden Fluid paints. Not every color is available in the paint
yet. The book will help you identify the exact color if you are using
paints other than my color mixing set. I am currently researching the CI
numbers of Winsor & Newton Artists' Watercolor Half Pans.
